My Bad Boy - Ch 9

Chapter 9- Contacts from the other side

Sonic was on his knees as he shook his head. The buzzing noise was faint in his ears as he clasped them to block it out. He had been trying to find a way to escape this horrible, nightmarish, prison for more than a half an hour, or possibly two to three since he didn't keep track of time while he was inside.

He had been a complete idiot for stepping into the trap that was set up by his evil counterpart. And by now, the speedy hero thought, the evil entity might be on his way to Sonic's house in order to get to Amy.

But he thought that he was a bigger idiot for not saying what he wanted to say to Amy. He just wanted her to be safe, from him, and from EXE, until the ordeal was done and over with. Being a bit cocky and shy when it came to the girl, he had to hide it behind his harsh words. He even wanted to stay by her side as she cried, but he was more concerned with her safety and her innocence that would be taken away by the very villain that would do anything to get what he wanted.

And he thought that Dr. Eggman was the heartless villain. Now there had to be another who takes the cake, or the chili-dog, whichever comes first in Sonic's opinion.

All he knew at the moment was to at least give a warning to Amy that EXE is bad news. But the big problem for him was that EXE blocked him from giving any contact with the pink hedgehog. Each time he tries to call out to her from within the darkest depths of EXE's mind, he severely gets shoved back to the ground with a thud. And each time he sees a portal to a certain part of the world where he tries to get close to, Sonic could go no farther than a step until the buzzing noise reaches his ears.

If Amy Rose was found dead or used by the very man he told her to be wary of, Sonic would not even forgive himself for leaving her out in the open. However, he just can't idly stand by and watch as EXE makes off with his girl, he even shivers each time he imagines them together. Sonic had to do something.

If he could not protect Amy from EXE, he had to make sure that Tails, Knuckles, or anyone who was as strong as him, to keep her safe. He was still kneeling on the dark ground as he forced his head up a bit to see another potential portal in the darkness. Narrowing his eyes as his gaze was locked onto the portal; Sonic pushed himself up and took a few unbearable steps to the item in front of him.

Ignoring the noise that threatened to break his head in half, Sonic broke out into a run over to the portal. He almost collapsed right on the portal as he panted in exhaustion. The prison was doing its best to drain his energy. The speedy hero peered into the portal as it showed him of what was happening in a place that he was not familiar with. But it did show him of where his friends were.

The dark corridors of the ancient temple were enough to set anyone off with dread and fear as the group led by Tails and Knuckles trekked on. Sonic narrowed his eyes, wondering why they were in this creepy place. He even spotted Blaze and a newcomer that he didn't recognize. From what it sounded like, his friends were learning about the fiend that Sonic now despised. Nevertheless, the speedy hero listened to what they were saying.

Tails and Knuckles were more curious than afraid as they never heard of a legend like this before. It was probably more legendary than Dr. Eggman's expeditions to rule the world.

Though they feared that this EXE person was more deadly, more cunning and sharp-witted, and more merciless. Even those acts of Eggman's doing could pale in comparison to the legend that they heard.

Cream stuck close to Tails as she follows closely behind him, Blaze led the way through the dark paths as she and Sally made sure that the others were not lost in the trail. "Can you enlighten us on more of the legend, Sally?" Tails asked.

"That depends on what is on your mind..." Sally Acorn answered without looking at him.
"There is a ton of things that the legend has to offer,"

"Okay, so what does this EXE guy really do to get the attention he craves so much?" Tails began. "I mean, what abilities is he known for?"

"He has plenty of abilities that are hard to count. He is mainly known for his speed, teleporting, illusions, seduction, I could continue but I don't want to bore you with all of the information..." Sally explained before she stopped dead in her tracks by what she saw on one of the walls, the others stopped a little too late as they bumped into each other from behind as the other slammed into their backs.

"Okay, what was that for-" Knuckles growled before his gazed locked onto the wall, fully forgetting his anger on why everyone stopped dead in their tracks. Tails and Cream were shivering as they stared at the same image and the room that left the rest of the group breathless. Sonic turned his head to get a closer look at the wall as he moved to a side at the portal.

The image on the wall was a symbol of ring much like the ones that Sonic collected on his journey, only bloodier and rusted like it was clearly ancient from a long time ago. But seeing the image next to it made the hero shiver. A heart that was dripping blood.

Sonic looked away quickly as he took a shaky breath, knowing full well that the image would cause someone to fall underneath a spell.  He watched as Blaze and the new girl tell his friends all about the symbol, stating that it is one of those old love binding spells to make the one person fall under the curse.

Sonic hoped in his heart that Amy didn't fall under the spell that EXE created on her as soon as he bit her upon the first meeting. But the thought about the Chaos Emeralds that were in Amy's possession would mean that she will be safe from even EXE's darkest temptations. Besides, the Chaos Emeralds are known to have purified energy when in the presence of one who is the same as them. There is still a chance that Sonic hasn't completely lost her yet.  For that he sighed in relief, but that knowledge was not enough to calm his nerves.

Knuckles and Tails looked away from the wall as they spotted something else in the next area. The room was empty except for a few torches and the symbol that was engraved onto the floor. On the sidelines of the room there were four mirrors, though they don't realize that one of them is with Sonic looking at them.

"Tails! Knuckles!" Sonic tried to shout from the mirror he was looking through. The group didn't seem to notice him, he wondered if EXE had placed a protective spell on the mirror to make it like his friends couldn't see him. "If I get out of here, I am going to give EXE a piece of my mind!" He slammed his fists onto the portal which created a loud thud from the mirror. It managed to make the group jump in fear. Well, technically it was Cream and the ground squirrel who jumped whereas the others held up their fists as they were ready to fight off whoever was in the room.

Upon seeing that nobody was there, Knuckles, Blaze, and Tails relaxed for a bit as they looked around the place. Sonic almost got so close to the portal that his breath fogged up on the portal, or the mirror that he was imprisoned in.

His eyes narrowed in confusion. Wasn't he somehow locked inside of his own mind? Or did EXE have enough power to take over his body and place Sonic's inside of one of his mirrors? Sonic went for the second choice as he tried once again to get his friends' attention onto the mirror as his breath fogged up the glass.

Once the whole mirror was fogged up, Sonic raised his pointer finger and began to write on the mirror from the other side. “Tails, Knuckles, and friends.”  It said. Somehow it gained their attention as they gathered around the mirror.

"What the heck is that mirror saying? How does it know we are here?" Cream shuddered as she hid behind Tails as the rest of the group took a closer look.

"It is possible that some of the mirrors in here usually show or tell the ancients of what is to come," Sally reasoned as best as she could.

Sonic continued to write on the mirror so that his friends knew of what was happening. The next words written were.”Amy Rose is in danger. Go back to her at once to make sure she is safe. Otherwise if you don't, she will fall victim to EXE. Don't waste time, hurry to her at once!” He was going to write his name right underneath his message before the buzzing noise grew louder and louder until he could not take it anymore.

"You didn't heed my warning, Sonic." EXE's voice spoke inside of his head. "If you try to mess with my plans again, you will lose something more than your hearing. And I believe you know what, or who, I am talking about."

Sonic fell to the ground as he clutched his ears, trying to whisper to himself that this was not real a few times as an image of EXE appeared before him. The creepy hedgehog looked down on the hero as a small smile graced his lips, showing his fangs as he laughed at the hero who was in pain.

EXE reached down, grabbing Sonic's neck and lifted him into the air, holding him suspended in the air. "You can't protect her from me, hero. She will be in my world sooner than you think. Neither you or your friends can do anything to change what will be destined." He chuckled evilly before he disappeared again, leaving Sonic alone in the world that he was imprisoned in.

Meanwhile, after seeing the message that was in the mirror before it disappeared, Tails and the rest of the group were beyond horrified to hear what was told to them. Amy was in danger? "This has to be made up, I mean, Amy is with Sonic!" Knuckles tries to convince himself while the others shivered in fright. "She will be okay, guys. Sonic is with her. I know that he would not leave her out in the open!"

"But what if it wasn't a lie Knuckles." Cream pointed out. "What if something bad had happened to her while we were out?"

"Cream is right," Tails agreed, "We should at least check up on her and Sonic to see how they are doing. I can go back over to where they are and-"

Knuckles interrupted. "And what? Ruin Sonic's much needed vacation? No way are you going to check on them! If Sonic sees you or me, he would want to come along in our mission. If you are so worried about him, we can send Cream and Blaze over to check on them."

"Why do I have to go?" Cream complained as she grabbed onto Tails' arm in a protective gesture.

"You are more qualified to do the job Cream because you don't talk very much to the young couple when they are alone, and you don't seem to be a fan of this temple as much as we do, so I think you deserve a break for a moment." Knuckles explained to the little bunny.

Cream nodded, fully understanding the reason. "Okay I will go out and check on them. But I think that you need Blaze to search in the temple." The young bunny escorted herself out of the temple as she remembered to go the opposite direction from where she and the others came from.

Though Tails and Knuckles were worried for a few moments that Cream would reconsider coming back to the temple in the next couple of seconds, the little bunny got herself to where she needed to go with the directions that they gave her.

They went back inside to resume their search in the temple. They also hoped that Cream will reassure them that Amy will be okay.
